••Reference Library Browser, Version 2.1 Release Notes••
Within the Global Information folder, you will find the following folders:
Documentation Browser
Worldwide Guide to System SW
Guide to Software Localization
Within the Documentation Browser folder, a Support Files folder contains the Help and Search stacks and other files needed by the browser.
The Help stack provides context-sensitive help for all windows, views, and functions in the browser. The Search stack provides full-text search capability. The search can extend over both documents, Worldwide Development: Guide to System Software and
Guide to Software Localization
•System Configuration•
To effectively use all of the features of this browser, you should first set HyperCard's memory partition to 2 MB.
•Optimizing Browser Performance•
Although the browser can be run from the CD-ROM, you will experience faster performance if you copy the Documentation Browser folder to your hard disk. Important: the Support Files folder MUST be kept in the same folder as the Reference Library Browser stack.
•Launching the Browser•
There are two ways to launch the Reference Library Browser: by opening the browser itself or by opening a document. You can do this by double-clicking the document stack.
•HyperCard Memory Problem•
HyperCard versions 2.0 and 2.0v2 have a known bug that can cause errors, such as "Can't open stack <stack name>" and "Not enough memory to continue", when you launch stacks from a locked disk (such as a CD-ROM) to run out of memory display ". There are two solutions: either quit HyperCard and relaunch the stack, or copy the Documentation Browser folder to a non-locked disk, launch the browser, and then open the online document. (You can leave the folders Worldwide Guide to System SW and Guide to Software Localization on the CD).
•Resizing Windows•
There are two ways browser windows can be resized:
Choosing Scroll from HyperCard's Go menu displays a scrollable window. Resizing the rectangle within this window resizes the active window on the desktop.
Pressing Command-Shift-E displays a size box in the active window. You can then drag the size box to resize the window.
•Printing•
In addition to the HyperCard print commands in the File menu, there are print commands in the browser's Documents menu. With the additional print commands, you can print selected text, a section, or an entire chapter.
•Feedback•
